Needs watering

I made this when I was in need of sustenance. I am somewhat of a phillumenist and collect matchboxes like my grandmother used to, and there is an aesthetic element of burnt matchsticks (created by using toothpicks, for safety) in this piece. I like to interpret this as a landscape in need of watering, as a reminder to rest and nourish, but perhaps also a landscape that has been burned to the ground and is aglow with embers, signalling good change and new ideas to come.

24h x 18w x 0.2d (inches); acrylic, wood, and charcoal on a slender canvas board; can be framed as pictured in the first image below, though it can also simply be leaned against a surface. This piece was featured in Vagabond City Literary Journal in 2024.
